Housing Director Set To Plea
A change of plea hearing has been scheduled for a contractor charged in a federal investigation of the South Delta Regional Housing Authority.
Court records show Jimmy Johnson was to enter a guilty plea to an unspecified charge Monday in court in Oxford. Johnson and housing agency director Ann Jefferson were indicted in 2011. Jefferson is scheduled for trial Jan. 30 in Oxford.
Prosecutors allege Jefferson paid Johnson for work on a house in Leland that had already been done. Johnson allegedly paid a kickback to Jefferson.
Prosecutors say Jefferson and Johnson retaliated against two employees and a woman who bought a house from the organization after Jefferson found out the individuals had been cooperating with federal investigators.
