Fire Destroys Home on Oak Street

An east Jackson family is homeless after fire destroys their home, Monday morning. Crews were called out around 10:30 to a house on Oak Street where they found the home completely engulfed by flames. Firefighters battled the flames for about an hour but were unable to save the home. However, they were able to rescue the family’s pit bull, which was locked inside. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The house is being considered a total loss.
