Neighborhood Sweeps Begin for 2012
Keeping Jackson neighborhoods beautiful was the goal of city officials, Tuesday. The neighborhood services department, along with the police, fire, and street departments were in the Hillcrest Circle area to make sure the homes were up to city code. Their mission is to work with residents to improve the appearance of their homes. Although citations are given out to those who violate codes, officials said they are seeing a huge improvement since their last visit to the area. “We’re talking to the neighborhoods and finding out what they need as well as what the city requires. So it helps them to cut down on some crime scenes and makes neighborhoods look like people are living there and keeping up their neighborhood,” said Captain Terresia Reasons of the Jackson Fire Department. Reasons said the most common violation is parked cars in front yards.
