Chipping of The Green
Dozens of residents chose to get rid of their Christmas trees at the Jackson Fairgrounds in an environmentally friendly way Saturday morning. Keep Jackson Beautiful sponsored the event “Chipping of the Green” Saturday in parts of North and South Jackson. Organizers and volunteers spend the day turning old trees in to small wood chips. They told 7 Eyewitness News it is a great alternative to throwing trees away in an already full landfill. The wood chips can be used for garden pathways and composting. Organizers said they have already collected at least 500 trees this year.
