Sheriff Using Facebook to Fight Crime
The Sheriff of Crockett County’s Facebook page makes him sound like a cross between John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Here is a recent post from Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce. “NOTICE TO ALL THUGS! If you don’t get an answer at the door after knocking, it doesn’t always mean that nobody is home. Somebody is going to blow you back out the door and we will come scoop you up.” “Yeah they could get blown away, but there could be someone in there who doesn’t know how to protect themselves then you could turn into a potential homicide or something,” said Sheriff Klyce. Here is another recent post from the Sheriff “We are losing the war on crime because we are afraid to hurt someone’s feelings. Political correctness is the farthest from my mind at this point in my career.” “I get really frustrated when I walk into people’s houses and there is things that have been taken,” said Klyce. The Sheriff makes no apologies for what he posts on Facebook. Tough words that come straight from the heart. “I get criticized from out of the county from people saying that I’m this or I’m that or I am trying to do this or that but it doesn’t really matter to me,” Klyce said. Klyce has been sheriff for the past 14 years. His father was sheriff from 1974 to 1998. Back in 1998 there was only one computer in the whole building. “He even mentioned it to me that this technology was coming and I am just too old. That’s what he told me. So I don’t know what he would say about this. He probably would have laughed about it,” said Klyce. The Sheriff said he has received important information thanks to feed back from his Facebook page.
