Group Honors Soldier for Service

A National Guard member is being honored for her service to the nation on Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior Day. The Gamma Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority honored Sergeant Bethany Hatchett Monday for her service in the U.S. Military. In addition to serving in the Tennessee National Guard, Sergeant Hatchett is the mother of three children. The sisters of AKA said they wanted to show their support and gratitude for such a selfless act. “She will know that the members of the Jackson community, Madison County and all members of, all over the United States, love our military families and we appreciate everything that they do for us, said Avis Baxter, president of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Monday’s effort was a day of service project for the Sorority to mark the Doctor King holiday.
