Madison Academic Celebrates Online Newspaper

A local school newspaper is stepping up their game by switching from print to digital. Madison Academic High School’s newspaper staff launched their new online version of the school’s paper The Galloping Gazette. All of the students presented different aspects of the website to teachers and parents at their open house Thursday. The paper began in 2003, and their teacher Marta Anderton said this new addition gives students the tools to improve the newspaper and themselves. “They’re leaning in design, they’re learning photo shop skills, they’re learning how to sell adds to the community and how to interact. They’re learning how to be part of a team, they’re learning how to manage, meet deadlines, so all these skills that are great at the marketplace whether they go into journalism or not,” said Anderton.
