Officers Honored by the FBI
Friday afternoon, officers of the Jackson Police Department were honored by the FBI. 23 Jackson officers were recognized by the special agent in charge from the Memphis office of the FBI during a special ceremony. Leaders with the FBI said because of the officer’s efforts and professionalism, the federal law enforcement agency was able to arrest and indict individuals believed to be responsible for two violent take-over bank robberies in the Memphis area. “My employees rant and rave about the cooperation and the professionalism of the Jackson Police Department. I am honored to work with the police and the chief of police and his men and women of this very fine police department, ” said Special Agent Aaron Ford of the FBI. “A lot of times police officers do not receive public recognition for the line officers that do this daily put their lives on the line, are sacrificing for the families, it’s a real morale builder, ” said Capt. Patrick Willis of the Jackson Police Department. Agent Ford said especially since September 11, 2001, it is imperative that local, state and federal law enforcement agencies work together to catch criminals.
