Building Collapse in Greenfield

UPDATE 12:28 p.m. According to the Greenfield Fire Department, three people were trapped by the collapse. One of those people were killed. One person was able to get out of the rubble on his own. Crews spent about three hours digging a second victim out of the building. That person was flown to a local hospital. That person’s condition is unknown at this time. Officials said they are now trying to recover the third victim who was killed in the collapse. None of the victims have been identified at this time. Several area agencies are assisting in the rescue and recovery at the scene. ORIGINAL STORY: Emergency personnel are on the scene of a building collapse in downtown Greenfield. A witness tells 7 Eyewitness News that Legends Little Italy Pizza on Front Street collapsed just before 9:30 a.m. We are told there may be a person buried. Workers on the scene were digging through the rubble, Monday morning. The reason for the collapse is unclear at this time. We have crews on the scene and will continue to follow this story.
