Hospitals Reach Agreement
It appears Jackson’s two hospitals have agreed to end a long-standing fight over exclusivity for insurance carriers. For years, Regional Hospital has pushed for a repeal of an exemption on anti-trust legislation in Nashville. Regional argued Jackson-Madison County Hospital had a strong-hold on insurance coverage. According to a statement released Friday by president and CEO of General Hospital Bobby Arnold the two sides have reached a tentative agreement. In part he said, “Under this agreement, General Hospital will not require that it be the sole hospital provider in Madison County as a condition to entering into a network provider agreement with a health insurer. Existing contracts would be unaffected…” CEO of Regional Hospital Steve Grubbs released his own statement which said, “We are encouraged by these discussions, but will refrain from further comment until the agreement is finalized.”
