MLB Star to Host Batting Clinic for Charities
A Major League baseball player will be putting on a clinic for local youth Wednesday in the Hub City. The non-profit Solus Foundation for Well-Being and the Special Needs Athletic Association is presenting the first Casey McGhee Batting Clinic. The major leaguer, who recently signed with the Pirates, has played with the Diamond Jaxx, Cubs and Brewers. He will present tips on hitting and will also speak to attendees during a question and answer session. It’s going to be an opportunity for them to see, you know, up close and personal, how fast that ball comes off and the different techniques, of, he’s just not hitting the ball, he’s hitting spaces on the ball,” said Nick Stamper, director of operations of Solus Performance Training. “It’s important, you know, to us to see that you know, a major league baseball player recognizes the need for recreation for special needs kid and adults,” said Michael Richerson, founder of Special Needs Athletics. The clinic is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Solus on Vann Drive. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Solus Foundation and Special Needs training.
