Pregnant Woman Shot at Lane Crest Apartments

A third shooting in Jackson in just three days leaves police looking for even more suspects. Police told 7 Eyewitness News the 25-year-old woman, who was shot outside the Lane Crest Apartments in doing well and has been released from the hospital. Officers said just before 4:30 Friday morning, she and a 27-year-old man were looking for a dropped cell phone outside, when they said a car pulled up and two black men got out and robbed them. Police said as the man struggled with one of the suspects, the second suspect fired a shot, striking the woman in the right shoulder. People who live in the area said they do not feel safe after learning about recent violence. “It’s an elementary school down the street and if they’re willing to shoot at a school campus and an apartment complex. Lord knows if it’ll carry over to a little kid on the playground and get hit by a stray bullet,” said neighbor and Lane College student Dwayne Chatman. The suspect car is said to be an older model Chevrolet or Ford sedan, burgundy in color with large chrome rims.
