Dentists Promote Oral Health to School Kids

Some area kids got a lesson in oral health care on national “Give Kids a Smile Day.” A number of local dentists made stops at several schools to promote proper oral health education with screenings and to drop off oral care supplies. The dentists are explaining that type of care is integral to overall health ant that untreated dental disease is painful and can affect school work as well as sleeping patterns. “The goal today is just to check people’s teeth, look for big-time disease, cavities things like that. Also, educate kids and their parents,” said Dr. David Barnes a Jackson Dentist. “Give Kids a Smile” is an annual one day volunteer initiative to provide preventative and restorative services to children from low-income families.
