JPD Investigates Shooting Of Indiana Fugitive

Jackson Police responded to a shooting Saturday night at around 10 p.m. which led them to an Indiana fugitive. Victim and fugitive Necko Purnell was taken to Jackson Madison County General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left thigh. The man told police he was at an apartment in the 100th block of Railroad Street when he was shot and robbed by two masked. During the investigation, police found out Purnell lied about his identity. The 20 year old is wanted in Indiana on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, and has been in Jackson about two weeks. He is currently in the Madison County Jail and charged with being a fugitive from justice, filing a false report, and criminal impersonation. The investigation is ongoing.
