The City of Henderson is doubling in size this week as the 76th Annual Bible Lectureship returns to the campus of Freed-Hardeman University. Around 4,000 are on campus for this year’s lectureship titled, “Faith and Life in James and Jude: The Behavior of Belief.” Visitors from across the country flock to the event each year. Special sessions are held during the event focusing on youth ministry, counseling and church leadership and sessions are also held during the week. Planners hope those attending can take what they learn back to their local congregation. “(There is) great content, great material that people can take back and work in the church or work in their lives,” said Dr. Billy R. Smith, Dean of the School of Biblical Studies. “But great fellowship, great reunion, dealing with difficult topics and we try to do that. So, we hope that people will take away great content for the study of the bible, great fellowship from being with each other and then we hope to have a lot of fun too,” said Smith. The Bible Lectureship continues through Friday.
