Victim in Shooting on Wallace Cove Charged

The victim in lat week’s shooting on Wallace Cove is out of the hospital, but is now behind bars. James Childress was released from the hospital, Tuesday, then booked into the Madison County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault. Police said last Wednesday night, Childress was shot when he refused to stop beating his girlfriend with a motorcycle helmet. Another man fired a warning shot, then shot Childress in the side to stop him. Childress then drove himself to a nearby bar where he called for help. Police said the man who injured Childress will not be charged.
