Man Murdered on North Highland Avenue

Jackson Police said they responded to a deadly shooting around 7:30 p.m., Tuesday night in the 900 block of North Highland near Crescent Avenue. They said the initial call came in as a burglary in progress, but upon arrival found Lionel Deshun Harris, 27, of Marion, Arkansas lying on the ground in a parking lot. Authorities said a document found on Harris also identified him as Lionel Isom. Police said the details at this point are what they call “sketchy.” “We have information that two individuals chased the deceased across the street. He (Harris) seemed to be the target,” said Captain Mike Holt of the Jackson Police Department. Captain Holt said authorities need help in, not only finding the killer, but also in identifying the victim. He said there is no record of Harris in their system. Captain Holt said they need to track Harris’s movements early in the day. Police have been able to learn that Harris has lived in West Tennessee since December 2010. Police have no suspects in custody, but say they are particularly interested in a black male described as 5 feet 9 inches with a stocky build, light complexion, wearing a gray sweat jacket and a black baseball cap.
