Police Identify Person of Interest in Tuesday Homicide

Jackson police have identified a person of interest in a Tuesday night homicide along North Highland Ave. Police said they would like to talk to Rueben Fairfield, 26, concerning the incident. Their investigation has revealed that Fairfield and the victim, Lionel Deshun Harris, 27, were acquaintances. Authorities responded to a call Tuesday night around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Highland Avenue and Crescent where Harris was found dead in a parking lot. Police said it was originally thought that Harris had been shot but a preliminary autopsy report from the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville revealed that he died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries to the head. Harris, who is from Marion, Arkansas, had been living in Jackson with his girlfriend since 2010. Rueben Fairfield is around 5 feet 9 and weighs about 220 pounds. His last known address is in the 200 block of West Grand Avenue in Jackson.
