JACKSON, Tenn. – While the snow has stopped falling, another danger could be in store for West Tennessee motorists. Temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s, early Thursday morning. Officials stated that may result in wet roadways freezing by morning. The Tennessee Department of Transportation said they will have crews standing by to salt and clear icy roads. “If they have to stay out 24 hours a day, seven days a week, that’s what they are going to do. They will rotate in their crews and make sure all of our road way are salted and plowed out for the travelers,” said TDOT spokeswoman Nichole Lawrence. Motorists are asked to remember that while some roads may look clear, they still could be slick or have black ice that has frozen on top of them. Madison County EMA Director Marty Clements suggests that drivers carry a substance that can help with traction like sand or kitty litter just in case your vehicle is stuck.
