JACKSON, Tenn. – A local library is letting residents pay their book fines in a unique way. It’s all part of the Food for Fines program, put on by the Jackson-Madison County Library. They are collecting canned or box food items for the Regional Inter-Faith Association. For each item you donate, the library will take $1 off your overdue fines, excluding lost or damage fees. “The library is an important place for the community, to bring the community together, and there’s a lot of need here, and so it’s a way for us to give back,” said librarian Jennifer Brewer. The library will be collecting food donations until December 31.
