More jobs could be coming to the Hub City thanks to a company moving production from overseas. Carlisle Transportation has announced they are moving tire production from its China plant to the factory in Jackson. Currently the plant produces about 6,000 tires a day. After the transfer, they will be making about 8,000 a day. Officials with the plant said they will need between 20 to 50 new jobs to keep up with this production. Carlisle’s President Kevin Forster said the Jackson plant is becoming more efficient, and it is cheaper for them to produce here in the U.S. “To some extent, tire production was subsidized with law tax rates in China and so forth for exports in the past, but some of those subsidies have disappeared,” said Forster. Tire production from China is also being moved to its other Tennessee Plant in Clinton.
