School Kids Learn about Plight of Children in Africa
Members of the group, “Invisible Children”, which is gaining notoriety across the country and with countless celebrities were in Jackson, Friday. The group, based in San Diego, spoke to students at North Parkway Middle School about the unthinkable struggles children their age are enduring in Africa at the hands of one man, Joseph Kony. Though a very serious topic, teachers believe it is very important for their students to hear what is happening in other parts of the world. “Very soon they are going to be out there,” said Doris Morton of North Parkway Middle School. “We are going to be taking a back seat and they are going to be the young people that are making decisions, in politics, in economics, in different things that are going to benefit all of us.” To learn more about the Invisible Children Organization, visit the ‘Seen on 7″ section of www.wbbjtv.com.
