Martin Woman Dies after Being Hit by Train

A Martin woman who was hit by a train Wednesday afternoon has died. Officers were called to an area in Martin around 4:20 p.m. near the railroad tracks after receiving a complaint of a person being hit by a train. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a victim lying in the ditch on the east side of the railroad tracks. The victim, Marjorie Irvine, 74, had injuries on the left side of her body and head injuries. Irvine was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital but was later transported to Memphis. She died Wednesday night. Police are tying to determine why she was on the railroad tracks.
