Fugitive Shot in Martin Identified

Martin Police have identified the fugitive shot Thursday as US Marshals tried to arrest him near the campus of UT Martin. Officers said Marcus Thompson, 43, is the man wanted out of Texas. Record show he is a convicted sex offender on the run. The TBI is investigating the incident in which a US Marshal fired at Thompson after he allegedly tried to run over officers. He is also accused of leading officers on a brief chase and causing a wreck before being arrested. Police said Thompson remains hospitalized in Martin.
