Charter Schools Appeal to be Heard Tuesday
A public hearing could affect the way children are educated for years to come in the Jackson-Madison County School System. An appeal hearing for the proposed Connection Preparatory Academy will take place Tuesday at the school board office on North Parkway. The outcome of the hearing will determine if state education officials will override a school’s application. Board members had felt the school would negatively impact the system, bu the state ruled last month such a school would not severely impact the district’s finances enough to deny the application. Those behind the charter school want to build the facility on Cartmell Street in east Jackson on land two other relatively new elementary schools. The public hearing is tomorrow morning at 10 at school board office on North Parkway.
