Knoxville Mulch Fire Under Control
The Knoxville Fire Department is winding down a weeklong firefighting operation at a mulch yard. The Knoxville News Sentinel reported personnel and equipment from McGhee Tyson Airport and the Tennessee Division of Forestry were released Sunday – seven days after the fire broke out. Fire Department Capt. D.J. Corcoran said the number of city firefighters at the site has been gradually reduced from thirty last week to four currently at Shamrock Organic Products. Dump trucks were to resume hauling mulch away from the nine-acre site Monday. Corcoran said more than 100 truckloads had already been taken away.
