Fall Survivors at Cumberland River

Two young Nashville men have survived a tumble down a bluff overlooking the Cumberland River. Police were called early Monday after the incident north of the city’s downtown area. The victims were with other friends when they fell thirty to forty feet down a bluff. One of them landed in the river, but was not swept away. The other fell onto the riverbank. Firefighters launched a water rescue to reach the men, who were taken to Vanderbilt University Hospital with non-critical injuries. Metro Nashville Police said some of the men’s friends were issued misdemeanor citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.
