Officers Cleared in Fatal Shooting Case
A Harrison County grand jury has cleared three police officers of wrong-doing in the fatal shooting of an alleged armed robber and murder suspect. 56-year-old Carl Lance Wise died of a gunshot wound to the chest in a confrontation with the officers Jan. 21 after a pursuit ended on U.S. 90. Officials have said Wise jumped out of his truck with a knife and charged at the officers. The grand jury found the shooting justifiable in a report signed Tuesday. The officers were identified as Mike Wheeler and Louis Beck of the Biloxi Police Department and Sgt. Bryan Swann of the D’Iberville Police Department.
