The Jackson Exchange Club honored a Madison County sheriff’s deputy as its “Officer of the Year.” During the club’s lunch-time meeting, Sergeant Jeff Tullos got quite a surprise when he realized the honoree and not the speaker for the day. Tullos has been with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department since beginning as a part-time assistant in 2002. He was hired as a full-time deputy in 2003 and has worked as a resource officer at Jackson Central-Merry High School, in the property crimes division and most recently in the warrant’s division. “A lot of times there’s no glory in serving garnishments or levy executions, or other civil summons and criminal process, so it is nice to know that we get recognized as well so it’s very much appreciated,” said Sgt. Jeff Tullos, the Jackson Exchange Club’s Officer of the Year. After the award presentation, Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris declared Tuesday, May 8 as “Sergeant Jeff Tullos Day.”
