The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department said due to a 7 Eyewitness News viewer, they are one step closer in solving the mystery of who is the owner of jewelry and photos that were recently discovered. A jewelry box containing the valuables was recently found under a bridge between Maury City and Alamo. After seeing the story, Tuesday night, Crockett County investigators said they received a tip tracing the items back to a burglary case in Dyer County. Investigators said helping identify the owner of the items is just one key to solving the case. “One, to get the property back to the victim, give them a little piece of mind maybe get some of there collectibles, heirlooms back and two, we possibly could identify a perpetrator on a crime or burglary,”said Chief Deputy Eric Uselton of the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department. The case will be investigated by Dyer County officials and the items will be returned to their rightful owners.
