Teresa and Adam Mayes Charged with 1st Degree Murder

The search intensified, Wednesday for suspected murderer and kidnapper Adam Mayes as he and his wife were charged with murder. The FBI announced its search is going nationwide for the man from Guntown, Mississippi. Mayes and his wife, Teressa Mayes were officially charged in Hardeman County with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping. According to court papers filed by the TBI, Adam Mayes went to the Bain family home on April 27 to take Alexandria, 12, and Kyliyah, 8. Investigators said Mayes murdered their oldest sister and mother to do just that, but there is still hope in Hardeman County for the missing Bain’s sisters safe return. “I know what God can do, and I believe he is going to bring those little girls back home,” said Kevin Treadway, a Hardeman County resident. New developments have this community shaken. “I’m scared to death about it, you know you can’t trust friends, close friends that are your family I mean who can you trust now,” said Hannah Deaton, a Hardeman County resident. Police said Teressa Mayes, Adam Mayes’ wife, confessed to witnessing him murder Jo Ann Bain in the backyard garage that is adjacent to the Bain’s Hardeman County home. “The fact that she didn’t do anything to stop it, I mean the law is doing its job she should be charged,” admitted Deaton. Investigators said Teressa believes her husband killed the Bain’s oldest daughter, Adrienne, 14, somewhere within the family’s home. TBI agents said after killing the two, Teressa drove her husband and all four victims to Union County, Mississippi. “Like animals, just taking them across, hiding them and stuff, it’s terrible,” said Treadway Mayes’ mother, Mary Frances Mayes remained jailed in Hardeman County on charges of conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping. It was in her backyard in Guntown, Mississippi… that officers said they found Jo Ann and Adrienne buried in shallow graves. The search for Adam Mayes, Alexandria and Kyliyah continues nationwide. “I just pray that he’ll hear me say this, to turn the little kids loose, because they haven’t hurt anybody,” said Treadway. Teressa Mayes is being held without bond and Mary Francis Mayes is being held on a $300,000 bond.
