South Side H.S. Students Earn iPads for Perfect Writing Assesment Score

Students at South Side High School earned some savvy prizes for their academic achievements Thursday morning. Students who got a perfect score on their writing assessment tests were rewarded with an iPad 2. None of the students knew their scores until it was announced at an assembly. Four students scored a perfect 6 on the test, earning them the grand prize. The writing assessment scores high school juniors on a 0 to 6 scale on their ability to write a response to an opinion question. School officials said students had significantly better scores this year than years past. They were able to give the prizes from Title One grant money from the state.
