The West Tennessee Strawberry Festival kicked off their two days of parades with the Junior Floats Parade, Thursday. Colorfully decorated floats with children waiving to spectators made their way down Main Street of the Strawberry City. The floats came with different shapes and decorations, including a fire-breathing dragon. The parade is unique since there are no motorized vehicles and the floats have to be pulled or pushed with human power. Those involved said the event is a labor of love. “Just seeing the kids and the people not being pulled with cars and everybody pulling it to hand and just seeing the little kids in it,” said Randy Combs, a parade watcher. The West Tennessee Strawberry Festival continues Thursday evening and Friday with a slate of events including the Grand Floats Parade beginning at 9:30 a.m. Be sure to look for 7 Eyewitness News personalities who will be walking the parade route.
