Girl Scouts Send Cookies to Troops
Military personnel will soon get a chance to enjoy a taste of Girl Scout cookies while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Leaders packed up more than 14,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to ship to soldiers in an effort called “Gift of Caring Troop to Troops.” The effort to get a huge amount of cookies involved troop members from the council of Girl Scouts of the South during this year’s cookie sales. Scout leaders said the effort was a big success with customers making certain they donated to the effort. “Throughout our cookie sale, the girls asked people to buy cookies and in that was our council’s gift of caring and they asked participants, customers to participate and to buy a box of cookies to send to a troop overseas,” said Tina McClellan, membership manager of the Girl Scouts. In addition to the scouts, parents and other volunteers took part in the effort.
