Explosion Causes Power Outage in Lexington, KY
Crews have restored power to an area of downtown Lexington after a small explosion knocked it out. Its reported that underground transmission line failed early Wednesday, which caused an explosion that blew off a manhole cover. Kentucky Utilities told the station that a power surge in the high-voltage line caused the explosion that knocked out power about 1 a.m. Crews were able to restore electricity, but KU says the damaged section of power line still needs to be repaired, which may cause some disruptions later in the day.
