Business Owner Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion
A former minister from Jackson pleaded guilty, Thursday to two federal counts of income tax evasion. He was originally indicted on 29 counts. Isaac Brooks, Junior, 59, admitted to pocketing almost $180,000 in taxes, Social Security and Medicare benefits withheld from employees checks, while controlling the finances of businesses Temp-Owned Temporary Services and Full-Time Maintenance. He also admitted to not paying personal income tax in 2006, totaling almost $198,000. Investigators also concluded he used funds from Antioch Missionary Baptist Church to buy and lease several luxury vehicles. His sentencing is set for August 23.
