MS Woman Charged with Arson

A $260,000 bond has been set for a 42-year-old Tupelo woman who is charged with first-degree arson and the burglary of an automobile. Joley Wheeler-Whitt was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident in addition to the two felony charges. Officials say a structure fire was reported early Thursday morning on County Road 1029 in Lee County. Mooreville and Plantersville volunteer fire departments responded and found a wrecked vehicle on fire and nearby, a house fire. Officers found the wrecked vehicle belonged to Wheeler-Whitt who was found at a nearby home in another vehicle. The bond was set by Lee County Justice Court Justice Judge Pat Carr. It could not be determined whether Wheeler-Whitt had an attorney.
