Alleged Drunk Driver Hits Camden Police Officer

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Department, an alleged drunk driver hit a Camden Police Officer’s cruiser, Sunday afternoon. The Sheriff’s Departments said it received calls from residents about a man driving recklessly. When authorities found the driver, he would not stop when they attempted to pull him over. According to Sheriff Tony King, a chase then began in Benton County and ended in Humphreys County. According to authorities, Matthew Bass hit Officer David Flowers’ car in Camden, Sunday afternoon. Bass reportedly did not stop after striking the car. Instead, he allegedly led them through Humphreys County. Authorities were able to stop Bass after placing down spike strips. Sheriff King said Bass will face reckless driving charges and felony DUI. Officer Flowers suffered only minor injuries in the incident.
