Bank Robbery Sentencing
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for a man convicted of robbing a Tupelo bank in 2011. Matthew Hyde Maynard pleaded guilty in March to robbing the Merchants & Farmers Bank in Tupelo. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 29 in U.S. District Court in Oxford. He was indicted on charges of armed bank robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery and the use of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. The federal indictment says a .32 caliber handgun was used during the holdup.
