Mother Found Guilty of Shielding Son
A 53-year-old Columbia woman faces up to five years in prison after refusing to cooperate with law enforcement officials who were looking for her son. A Marion County jury deliberated for ninety minutes on Tuesday before finding Nilia Victoria Jeanfreau guilty of hindering prosecution. Jeanfreau will appear for sentencing on Aug. 6 before Judge Prentiss Harrell in Purvis. She was accused of concealing and harboring her son, while making false statements to authorities concerning his whereabouts.
