Woman Charged with Filing False Reports
Knox County sheriff’s investigators say a hidden camera caught a woman making false reports about threats to her. Authorities charged 36-year-old Rebecca Ward with falsely reporting an incident. After she made repeated calls about a man threatening her, deputies set up a hidden camera across the street from her home. When Ward called and said she had shot at a man trying to break in, investigators reviewed the camera disc and confronted Ward, who admitted she made up the threats and wrote threatening letters herself. Ward declined a jailhouse interview with the station. Deputy Claude Hudson said Ward never gave a reason. Hudson said Ward’s boyfriend lives in her home, but they don’t think he was involved in the false claims.
