Woman Rescued from River

Kentucky State Police say a woman may have jumped from the Interstate 24 bridge over the Tennessee River, but emergency workers rescued her downstream from the Kentucky Dam. State Police Lt. Brent White says that police do not believe an accident caused the woman to fall eighty feet into the river just after 9:40 a.m. CDT Thursday. White says a Calvert City police officer arrived at the bridge shortly after the emergency call and found an empty vehicle. The officer then helped coordinate a towboat crew, which pulled the woman from the water after she survived the eighty-foot fall. White declined to release the woman’s name. Officers took the woman to Lourdes hospital in Paducah.
