FHU graduate program adds Master of Science in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology

Freed-Hardeman University will offer a Master of Science in applied sport and exercise psychology beginning in Fall 2026, becoming the only university in West Tennessee to offer a master’s degree in this discipline. This distance education program meets educational requirements for the Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification from the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).

Scholarship honors late radio personality Stewart “Stewman” Byars

Stewart “Stewman” Byars is remembered for his many talents and sense of humor as a popular Northwest Tennessee radio personality. Fans knew him best for his work at the Thunderbolt Radio family of stations in Martin and Union City and as co-host of Club Country on West Tennessee PBS WLJT-TV.

Disaster unemployment assistance available in 29 Tennessee counties

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) announced Wednesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) available for 29 Tennessee counties. These counties were impacted by the Tennessee Severe Winter Storms as declared in the Federal Disaster Declaration FEMA DR-4898.
