Generals Unveil New Mascot
The Jackson Generals have announced that “Sarge” will be the new mascot name for the Jackson baseball team. The bulldog mascot is sporting a camouflage Generals baseball uniform with a green helmet, featuring three gold stars. The name “Sarge” was selected from over 150 eligible nominations through a contest put on by the Generals and The Jackson Sun. 6-year old, Alexandria Callison of Jackson was randomly selected out of eight eligible submissions of “Sarge”. She will receive two (2) season tickets to 2011 Jackson Generals home baseball games; the opportunity to introduce the mascot on opening day (April 13, 2011); and to have the mascot host a pizza party in her classroom on a date that is acceptable to the Jackson Generals. Other eligible entries that nominated “Sarge” were from 3-year old, Laci Cunningham of Pinson, 7-year old, Erica Conrad of Oakfield, 8-year old, Dalton Thompson of Medon, 10-year old, Brett Flanagan of Trenton, 10-year old, Madi Brown of Jackson and 11-year old, Kristen Young of Beech Bluff, and Brayden Stewart, 9-year old of Jackson. These will be invited to opening day, and take part in an on-field introduction of “Sarge” to the Pringles Park crowd. Other top names that were nominated were General Jackson, Andy, Duke, and Homer. The Jackson Generals are the Double-A Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Flex book and season ticket packages for the 2011 season are currently available and can be purchased by calling the Generals at (731) 988-5299, or by visiting the Generals offices at Pringles Park. The Jackson Generals open the 2011 season on Thursday, April 7th when the Generals visit the Mississippi Braves. The home opener is slated for Wednesday, April 13th against the defending Southern League Champion Jacksonville Suns.
