NAIA Tournament Will Leave Jackson

Leaders with the National Association Of Intercollegiate Athletics have announced this year will be the last year for the Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament in Jackson. For 22 years the Hub City has played host to the 32 team tournament, at the Oman Arena. Officials say the aging arena may have played a factor, but would not specify what set other city’s apart during the bidding process. Meanwhile players from across the region are here in Jackson this week, as scheduled tournament play begins. NAIA leaders say a new host site will be announced on March 28th.
