Escapee Makes Federal Court Appearance

Fugitive charges against Darian Pierce and Ricky Wedgeworth have been dismissed but the pair are far from being free. During a court appearance Friday, Pierce was handed over to Shelby County Deputies to await transfer back to Louisiana. The federal charges of unlawful flight were dismissed for both Pierce and Wedgeworth because the two were captured. It is undecided what state charges will be filed or whether Mississippi or Alabama will be the state prosecuting the two for the murder of Ohio businessman David Cupps. Cupps carjacked in Vicksburg, MS. Officers found his body dumped in Alabama. It was Cupps’ rental car the two were driving when they fled into north Madison County which began the massive search.
