BROWNSVILLE, TN – City planners in Brownsville are taking a closer look at the amount, and style of signs around town. Leaders say they have been receiving concerns into City Hall that too many outdoor signs are cluttering the gateway streets into downtown. Zoning and planning officials say they are in the ‘beginning stages’ of possibly changing the sign ordinances. Over the next few weeks, leaders say they will be exploring how similar-sized communities are handling their sign laws. One of the largest concerns, zoning officials tell us, is the lighted displays used by many businesses. There are some restrictions on how they can be used, but leaders say those regulations may not go far enough. City leaders do not expect any changes to be proposed anytime in the immediate future.
