Bond Family Wins Lawsuit Against Daycare
A Madison County jury found a Jackson daycare responsible in the death of a child in its care and awarded his family $1.5 million dollars. In December 2008, 22 month old Ford Bond choked on a peach while at Lambuth Memorial Day School and died. His family sued both the daycare and Nutritional Services, Unlimited. Around 5 Tuesday afternoon, after nearly nine hours of deliberation, the jury handed down its verdict, finding the daycare responsible and clearing Nutritional Services. The Bond Family attorney said this gives them some sense of closure. “Well, no amount of money can replace the life of a child and LaFonda Bond would certainly agree and I would say would rather have one minute of Ford Bond’s life in exchange for any amount of money, said Stephen Brooks, attorney for the Bond Family. “We do feel proud that the jury understood its role to protect the safety of the citizens of Madison County.” There were never any criminal charges filed against Lambuth Memorial Day School. The week-long wrongful death trial began last week.
