A Henderson County man has been arrested in connection to stealing hundreds of dollars in coins from an already struggling business. Employees at the Exit 101 Travel Plaza say they were able to salvage about $900 in coins after the building was destroyed by a fire in November. Earlier this month they discovered it had been stolen from the back of the owner’s car. Investigators arrested former Travel Plaza employee Dennis Keith Jones on Monday night after they say a surveillance video revealed him using a coin star machine at a local Walmart. “What little bit we were able to salvage out of it becomes stolen and it comes up missing, it’s just an extra blow that something that we shouldn’t have to put up with,” said employee Sheri Bowman. In addition to the coins, Harris is charged in the theft of a copper wire and a large exhaust pipe from the Exit 101 Travel Plaza. He is free on a $8,500 bond.
