Those attending a renewable energy forum in the Hub City learned about economic development and job opportunities available in such energy. The 2nd Annual West Tennessee Forum on Renewable Energy took place at the UT Center for Education and Research in West Jackson. Attendees explored clean farming opportunities for solar energy, cellulosic ethanol and biodiesel. The Tennessee Renewable Energy Economic Development Council partnered with Jackson City Council member Ernest Brooks to promote and connect such energy with economic development in West Tennessee. A Danish firm told ag producers about a process to convert agricultural wastes into synthetic green diesel. “We can create jobs through some of these projects as well as decrease our dependence on foreign oil and we see how that dependence effects us on a daily basis,” said Jackson City Councilman Ernest Brooks. Available low interest loan opportunities were also presented at Tuesday’s meeting.
